We are moving house on Wednesday and wondered what time other people completed and got their keys. Thanks

It varies so much. We’ve moved lots of times a d quite often it has been late afternoon

DreadingWinter · 09/09/2022 13:35

My friend had to wait until 5pm last week.

Fourmoos · 09/09/2022 13:36

I did wonder if it could drag on…

No chain but it was still 4.30pm

caringcarer · 09/09/2022 13:40

1pm but should have been 12 noon.

SomethingFast · 09/09/2022 13:41

Around 10am, but we know the vendors and lived locally, they drove round and dropped it off along with a bottle of wine and a new home card! I appreciate this probably isn’t typical!

justaladyLOL · 09/09/2022 13:41

5.30 last time

LionessesRules · 09/09/2022 13:51

4.56, on a Friday. Estate agent shut at 5.
They were still loading when we got there - tho the house was empty.

More typically, 3pm.

Depends where you are in the chain. Most solicitors aim for lunchtime, but often experience hold ups. Good luck with your move

When we sold last year, completion didn't happen until nearly 5pm. I was fuming as I had sat in an empty house almost all day (we had moved out the day before) and when I came to try and hand the keys over to the EA they had gone home so I had to leave them with the solicitor instead.
The only saving grace was that the new owner obviously wasn't moving in that day so wasn't parked up on the driveway with a removal lorry!

We bought last week.
Were told by the estate agent that the previous owners were moving out a few days before so we cracked on with loading up the van and headed over in time to unload when we completed at 10am. Only to get there and find them still packing! They didn’t leave until 1pm.

A week later and I’m still sore about the extra £300 we ended up paying due to having to wait around but the estate agent said we have nothing to complain about as even if they had moved out when he told me, they still might have held onto the keys until 1pm.

In future, I would be a lot less eager to get in and unpacked!

We moved 3 weeks ago. Our vendors gave us their spare key, we went over there about 12pm and they were still packing 🤣 we got the call at 1pm that we had completed, they had just finished lol
