What references & certificates do I need to ask tradespeople for?

Hi all - I need to have some work undertaken in my new flat. New fuse box, new bathroom etc. I’ve tried to get some recommendations from friends and family but they’re either too booked up or won’t travel to where I live. I’m subsequently having to look at sites like checkatrade (even YouTube!) to find people. Aware this is slightly risky … there are some horror stories from Checkatrade.
What should I be asking to see to ensure they have the right qualifications, insurance and I’ll get the right certificates following the work?
Thank you for your help!

I would also avoid the recommendation websites. If you know people locally, I would ask around for recommendations. Failing that, you need to find the pub where lots of trades go for a pint after work. Be prepared to offer a small job and pay promptly so you can ask that trade for ideas on the next job you want done. Then message that one and say XXX recommended you. They will check it's for real, and that you paid and were decent to deal with. I have a great guy, but I wouldn't give his name out to just anyone unless I was certain that he would have no problem with his next customer. My sister had a tired house refurbed for herself and posted bathroom pics on FB. An acquaintance asked for the plumber's name, she gave it, and the acquaintance turned out to be a nightmare client -- which sours everything.
