Property in West Wickham

Hi everyone,
We are considering Orpington, and West Wickham areas to buy our first house. Can anyone living in these areas share your thoughts about the neighborhood, safety, and good primary schools? My husband's office is in Farringdon and he commutes every day so we are looking to move to a safe neighborhood. Any other suggestions highly appreciated as we're first-time buyers so don't know what else to look out for.

What's your budget and how long until you need secondary schools?

There are good primary provisions in both.

Commute wise orpington is the end of the line and west wickham almost so you always get a seat. The hayes line is long though.

@abovedecknotbelow not looking at secondary schools yet as we don't have kids. So considering primary schools only. We don't drive so want to live closer to train station as to commute daily to London.

West Wickham is nice, as is Orpington - particularly Green St Green end. Or Petts Wood. Best avoid St Mary's Cray. Also look at Chislehurst.
