Painting old bathroom window ledge while I have access - how?!

We’re getting our bathroom done. It’s an empty room at the moment and I’ve realised I can reach the exterior window ledge which is currently looking dilapidated with peeling paint.

I would love to take this opportunity to re-paint it but I’m not sure what products I need.

Please can anyone recommend what paint is best? It’s a Victorian property with a stone (I think) ledge.

Thank you!

First you scrape off the old paint. If the ledge is wood, you then wood putty any cracks or gouges. Then you sand. Then you prime. Then you paint, usually two coats of exterior wood paint. Make sure to paint when it’s dry but not in direct sun and also at least 6hrs before any rain happens.

If the ledge is stone, after scraping you can sand any paint that won’t scrape off. Then apply two coats of masonry paint.
