How to find the white paint type / brand used by previous owners

Hi

The previous owners gave the house a refresh with white emulsion before selling. As we’ve taken down curtain rails, filled in holes from screws etc, we need to touch up the white paint - but for the life of me I can’t find one that matches!!!!

Is it myth or truth that if I chipped off a bit of the paint and took it to B&Q they could colour match it?

No, we didn’t exchange details unfortunately

In general paint changes colour and texture pretty quickly so even if you get the exact brand and colour, it might show. If it was recently done it might be ok - or at least, better than something that was never the same.
