I am coming again to you all for advice because I am extremely confused.

I have been wanting to move out of London for ages and have visited a number of places. I am however still confused so, I am posting again because the advice on here has always been helpful.

Myself and my son ( black) need to relocate because as you know, buying in London is not an option.

I have visited Derby ( Oakwood, but someone has kindly recommended Langley Country Park & Mickleover which I am looking into)

Leeds - I have been there but that's ages ago.

I have visited Fernwood in Newark. I liked the east train ride from London but felt that it was a little isolated.

I have visited Grantham and I like the fact that it has a grammar school.

I have visited Melton Mowbray in Leicester.

I would really like some views. My main priority is football as my son is currently in an academy in London. School wise, he has been preparing for 11 plus but he is not too kin on it and I won't force him, so I need good school and hence, Langley Country Park seemed okay because of the catchment to.

I was initially hoping to continue working in London, perhaps 2 days a week and the rest from home but I can get a job closer, so travelling to London is not essential.

My budget is £220 but I can push to £235. Not much but I need a starting point.

What are your views, please.

Thanks a lot and yours views will be very appreciated.

Really sorry, no idea, but I'm just bumping your post for you.

I left London 20 years ago (moved to Gloucestershire) and it was the best thing I ever did. Good luck!

Now the summer holidays are over AirBnB's will be cheaper. Maybe have a weekend away once or twice a month to look at different towns and cities.

What sort of jobs would you be after locally as that might help you narrow down an area?

Leeds and the whole of West Yorkshire is brilliant, there are free grammar schools as well if you don’t mind a bit of travel (organised transport). North Leeds is pricier and nicer, so depending on what sort of a house you’re looking for, your budget might not stretch to it but there’s lots of great areas where you could bag yourself a house with a bit of outdoor space if you move towards south or west Leeds suburbs. Good luck

You could do a lot worse than Leeds/Bradford OP.

Beware that some of the grammar schools eg: Prince Henry's in Otley, Ilkley Grammar, Mirfield Free Gramnar are "grammar" school in historical name only and are essentially non selective comprehensives. (Ie: no 11 plus). They are still decent schools, but your budget won't go that far in the catchments for the first two schools mentioned.
