How long from ordering to installation?

Hi all,

I’m looking at getting a new bathroom and I have consultation appointments with both b&q and Wickes. I would have normally gone with someone independent but I had a bad experience with this last time, and also I like that with both of these that you can get a payment plan on finance.

Does anyone roughly know how long it takes from ordering the products to installation? Also if anyone can suggest any other bathroom companies that offer the finance option and installation?

Can you get a bank loan? Then more choice of who to go with.

I used an independent fitter and waited about 3/4 months I think as he was quite booked up.

@Whycanineverever i could but as I said I’m also a bit hesistant because I had a bad experience with an individual tradesperson last time and they were unreliable etc.

I asked in Wickes about bathroom installation back in about April. At that point it was about a nine month wait.

@RidingMyBike ah so a long time then. I will probably try and get quotes for a couple of places. Was there any reason it took so long?

It's the backlog from all the people trying to get renovations done after the lockdowns/ spending more time at home so wanting to improve their home/ stamp duty holiday so purchased house they want to improve.

Some of that may have reduced since as the looming recession means some will cancel planned projects.

We're having two new bathrooms and a downstairs loo done as part of a house renovation. We started enquiring about prices and timeframes in April, completed house purchase in June with builder lined up to quote the next day and will hopefully start work in October. But all the other builders had no availability until into next year.
