Where to keep burglar alarm fobs?

We’ve just moved house and the burglar alarm here is a newer system than the one in our old house.

The engineer came out today to demonstrate the system. The previous owner gave us the key fobs for the burglar alarm, but I wanted to have a code as well because I find that easier than a fob. He said that codes can’t be used with this system.

So my question, which is possibly a bit dim, is — where do you store the fob? You want to be able to turn the alarm off quickly when you come downstairs in the morning, but you also don’t want to be leaving the fobs handy for any passing burglar… Any advice welcome.

I was rubbish and used to leave mine on top of the alarm box 😬🙈 I always intended to put one on my keys and the other on my bedside table though. Probably would have been better!

We arm the downstairs at night so place the fob on the newel post at top of staircase each night. First person up in the morning turns off the alarm and puts the fob back on a shelf in my study. It’s not a key fob but a little grey control with numbers on it.
I also have a key fob where you disarm by pressing a button but kept falling off key ring so gave up.

That’s a good idea @CherrySmiler. We need to find a similar spot and then all need to get trained in the new system!
