Please can someone explain Howdens to me?

We went to our local Howdens branch A as our builder told us they had an account there. The service was next to lacklustre, but we sucked it up given we'd been directed there by the builder who'd said they could buy the kitchen at trade discount etc.

Quote was sent to our builder by Howdens Branch A.

Builder then informs us that they do not have account with the Howdens branch A we'd been to. It's actually Howdens branch B their account is with. Not that they'd told us this. Howdens branch B has told them they won't see what they could do with our quote as they're franchises and it would be taking work off Howdens branch A.

I just feel we've had all our time wasted. The quote of course is useless as it's got no costs on it only a final price.

I use to work with them op personally I would get quote elsewhere.
Where you as a paying customer are the ones in charge with how much you pay and what goes on.

Howdens will only deal with builder unless the builder allows you to deal direct with the branch.

Reason Branch A done that was so you don't take it elsewhere to be copied.
It's a pain but one thing that would happen regular is builders/customers use Howdens for the free design service and then take the floor plans lists to other competitors and get undercut.

You will be bombarded soon enough from Branch A because of the so called sale they have on sept/October time and I can bet you Branch B will soon be happy to sort the kitchen out when they have sale targets they need to meet around this time.

I just phoned Howdens Branch A who told me our builder does have an account with them, with the same discount, so they couldn't understand why we'd been told otherwise by the builder. God knows what is going on!

I’m finding Howdens so confusing at the moment also. Started designing a kitchen with them some months ago through having an extension built. Have a final design, quoted with an additional discount and apparently ordered for delivery in the next week or so.
just had an email yesterday to say they will be removing the discount from the quote! Can they actually even do this? Was trying to post this on a separate thread but won’t let me for some reason! Do I have any rights with this? Any advice welcomed…
