Hi everyone,
I'm having an extension done and have been dealing with an architect to do the drawings He has been ok, but hasn't offered any real design/advice at all. He never picks up the phone and in general is hugely unhelpful. Just totally evasive. However he did the basic drawings I asked him to do, I knew what I wanted so it was an easy job for him.
He had created the final set of drawings (building regs) and at the last minute I said that I wanted to look at a different glass roof. He told me that any changes would mean he would charge by the hour. I asked him for some advice, and he just kept saying go and speak to a glazier. Which I did, I told him I'm happy to pay for the drawing change but too hold off until I have decided what I want. A couple of days later he sent over drawings with the changes which I had not instructed him to do. He sent over the revised bill, and I'm disputing it because I asked him to hold off for me to look at the roofing options.
I'm really angry because there are no emails where I've specifically asked him to do the amendment, plus he never picks up the phone so I don't see why I should pay?
He said he will take the initial agreed amount but that ceases the contract. But I have no idea what else the architect needs to do now? All the drawings are completed?
