Hello my daughter and 4 children are on council waiting list for a 4 bed property, she bid on a new build 4 bed house and was number 2 but went to 3 before closing, she is band one my question is how long would it take to hear anything? The house will be ready October. Thank you.

Hopefully she’ll get something soon, also have 4 kids and been waiting 5 years in homeless temp accommodation and have had to downgrade to get a 3 bed to maybe get something, no bidding here though which is frustrating 😳 it’s a difficult place to be in.

Hello everyone hopefully I will get some help this is my first time here
so me and my husband and my 10 month son just changed the band in the housing from band 3 to band 2 A and in the same day we bided for houses we were 1 in one property and 2 in 2 other properties and next day the bidding closed and we were still in the same positions and on next Friday we bided again but we were like 200 and 300 I don’t know why I’m confused does that mean that we’re gonna get the property we were 1 at or not and when can we expect a call from them
my husband was in waiting list for 13 years now
so if you anyone can explain the next step to me and how it works
thanks everyone

My LA just offered me a 1 bedroom flat for me and my 3 year old. I didn’t personally bid on this property but was offered due to my local connection to the area. Problem is… it’s a high rise tower and on the 20th floor (highest is 21st floor). I’m in band 3 due to overcrowding at my current residence, and am inclined to refuse as I suffer from vertigo and have a fear of highs and feel extremely uncomfortable that high up with my child as a vulnerable single mother.

Any advise? What would you do?

Hello, I've been on the waiting list for a year now with my local council with my partner and our 2 year old son, living overcrowded in our situation. Got a email on Friday to ask for homfinder vertification application, to confirm details and sending over partners payslips. Which had to be completed within 24 hours so that we didn't bypass any potential offers on properties. What does this mean and has anyone had this email before. Thanks

I suggest you start a new thread as this one was started a very long time ago. People will want to answer the original question and probably won't get as far as yours.

Me my partner and 5 children have been on the list for 6 years and 2 months are eldest had to move out due to over crowding,in this time we have only been able to bid for 6 properties, we privately rent as this what our council recommended to do but due to landlord wanting to put are rent up by £500 extra a month we will not be able to. We always come between 10-16 but just don’t get no luck. Council won’t change our banding as they said you live in private rented accommodation so they don’t class it as over crowding. We are band 3 my partner did live in hostel for 2 years with the children but still wasn’t offered a house. I understand that there is a housing shortage and I totally get there are families that have children that are disabled and are in more need, it’s just frustrating. I am also finding that families that have been housed already on the council are still bidding and finishing higher up than us.

just don’t know what to do feel like we loosing a battle 😢
