My latest Lottery House (some questions)

So the Euromills are £77m tomorrow & I've found a gorgeous house & luscious garden for under £5m. It's so spacious that this is the landing (questions in next post)...

There's an astonishing utility room on the second floor (i.e. 2 floors up, not the US version). Why up there? What goes in all those cupboards? And why is there a socket sticking out of the floor?

I'm guessing it's for an iron. DH jokingly suggested a trouser press. I wondered if it's for a hand-held steamer.

I'd guess cleaning supplies in the cupboards and the socket for charging a cordless hoover?

It appears to have an oven. Why is there an oven?

Oh, & what is the appliance on the left of the picture?

I was wondering how, especially in a bathroom with a wooden floor, you can use the shower attachment over the bath & not get water everywhere. I know I would.

That's an awful lot of heavy cleaning supplies (laundry gel) in wall cupboards, so I wondered if they keep the clean sheets & towels in them.

Why didn't they put a flat socket in the floor? How do people not fall over it?

No idea about the oven.

Towel storage, yes. We don't have an airing cupboard. I am always struggling to find places to keep towels.

This is my lottery house. I am not in the mood to deal with humanity atm.

I’d assume the laundry room was for the housekeeper. I wouldn’t be going in there with £77million. I’d be paying someone to do that.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 23/08/2022 01:06

Who wouldn't want their own island with a castle on it?😍

I agree re housekeeper. I just want to know she's doing it right!

The shower attachment is just for cleaning the bath and occasionally washing dogs. Obvs!

TheBikiniExpert · 23/08/2022 11:33

It's all academic anyway as I plan on winning the jackpot. Sorry OP!

That's fighting talk, Bikini!

I'm tempted by that island

User1563 · 23/08/2022 18:03

Oh wow, I got proper addicted to the lottery a few years ago. Always bought 1 tickets every tiesday and Wednesday for well over a year and won nothing.
I stopped after I spent 30£ one time and won zilch nada.
It’s always fun to dream.

We're in the process of moving house and considering turning one of the 1st floor bathrooms into a laundry room. It's got the space for it (although nowhere near as big as on your picture OP) and would mean no more moving all the laundry up- and downstairs constantly.
I grew up in another country (western european) and washing machines & dryers are very often kept in the bathroom there, or in another spare "utility" room upstairs.

I'd quite fancy this for my lottery win: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/119912597#/

Although I'd settle for this - needs quite a bit of money spending on it to turn it into a family home though (currently a hotel/wedding venue) www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/125374169#/

StillSmallVoice · 24/08/2022 13:45

I had a utility on the first floor in one house. It was great - I wasn't taking clothes up and down the stairs all the time.

My SIL has an arrangement like all those cupboards. One basket for each member of the family and they have put their own clothes away since they were tiny.

EarlofShrewsbury · 24/08/2022 13:52

Bedding is used upstairs, clothes are upstairs, towels in the main are upstairs.

Upstairs utility makes total sense.

Chersfrozenface · 25/08/2022 09:46

Upstairs utility room makes sense if you always use the tumble drier. With electricity costs heading for the stratosphere even people with houses big enough to have a utility room may well be rethinking this. Who wants to haul wet washing downstairs to dry it outside? Or has a utility vast and warm enough to dry clothes in it?

This does not apply to Lottery winners, obviously.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 25/08/2022 16:14

Light - love that first one. Am off to investigate the NE a bit more...

Quite fancy buying an island and living in a castle on said island. But... people in Shetland are just so small (probably due to the wind), there’s one small clump of tiny stunted trees (due to the wind), and you need really strong clothes pegs (it’s just so fucking windy!). Though the perfect glass-smooth roads are v appealing (oil £££).
