Leak - do I have to accept contractors?

There has been a leak into my kitchen / living room through the ceiling lights from the flat above. It has caused a lot of water damage- to the ceiling, paint work and kitchen cupboards (amongst other things- will need to get the electrics etc checked). The Managing Agents have said they will get it repaired- but so as to reduce the building insurance claims they want to use their own contractors.

Unfortunately the contractors are really poor - come at a time that suits themselves (which I could put up with) , painting a wall a different colour to the other walls in the room (as they did last time when a pipe servicing another flat that goes through mine leaked) I can’t. Despite my representations to the managing agent last time they wouldn’t come back and change the colour.

Do you think I just have to accept their contractors (and be grateful - although I do pay nearly £400 a month service charge that includes building insurance! ) or can I ask for the money and arrange my own repairs?

I could cry - have only just had my boiler repaired to get hot water and now this!
