With rising energy bills, inflation we have decided we aren't going to move until 2024. The year when DD starts secondary, we aren't desperate to move it was more a nice to have. We have good amount of savings safe jobs house is a very small proportion of our outgoings so I feel like we are in a very good position. Moving right now would be rocking the boat and I feel like this is peak market.

Is anyone else doing the same ?

No I am moving next year, planning to put the house up for sale around Feb time come what may with the housing market. I am moving back to my home town 40 miles away where I work and where all of my family live. The commute is killing me at the minute and I am spending a lot on fuel. I have around 50% equity in my house so even if house prices fall I should be ok. The house I am selling I completely modernised last year and it is a popular area for families so fingers crossed it will sell fairly easily.

Desperate to move but holding tight to see what happens to the housing market. So much uncertainty with cost of living crisis and also so little choice on rightmove, everything I'm seeing is an overpriced compromise. I did offer asking price on a house a couple of months ago (bit of a fixer upper but bags of potential) it went for £50k above asking, can't compete with that so hope the market calms down.

We fixed our mortgage for 10 years in March, 14 years left on it. Currently live in a townhouse with 4 bedrooms in a market town centre and don't fancy borrowing an extra £200k to live in a detached on an estate further out!

If a bigger house drops under £400k we'll rethink.

If I didn’t have to move last year I wouldn’t of. As it added more onto our mortgage and now we could do with the money. I loved that house and where it was so much and sadly I still refer to it as home.
