marcerator or saniflo toilet

Hi all!

I have read a lot of old discussion on saniflow toilets and there seems to be a lot of negative feedback.
We are going through our shower room refurbishment and realized that the toilet was actually connected to saniflo pump! ( we moved it a year ago and the toilet was broken back then, so this is the first time for us to be notified it by our plumber)
There is no other way than installing a new saniflo toilet for now as the location of the shower room is quite far from the outside wall.
We are very careful and thinking of using the new toilet only for no.1 & toilet papers. Meanwhile, we read somewhere that these toilets need to be flushed at least once a day. We sometimes go away for holidays up to 1 month and I am worried if the infrequent use of the toilet can break the seal and the toilet...

Can anyone please share experience?
Highly appreciated.

Don’t do it. Pay what it takes to get a proper loo or don’t bother having one at all. Ours was the bane of our life. When it went wrong that was frequently it was well words can’t express his grim. Friend of a friends leaked sewage all through their house 🤮. Hard no.

I have a saniflo/macerator and oh my god I hate it. One little bit of grit in the wrong place and it will pour water through your ceiling. I don't actually flush ours that often, and didn't know you were meant to do it every day. I've had it 18 years and it's still trucking along and has only broken and disgorged its contents through the ceiling twice. Probably because we hardly ever use it.

I made a point of getting the next ensuite toilet, also at the wrong end of the house, properly plumbed in with a sewage pipe. Expensive and lots of swearing from builder but worth it.
