What do I need for tiling?

My tiler has ghosted me and now I have my joiner coming to tile. I have bought the tiles.

But he wants me to buy the tile adhesive and grout. Any recommendations with regards brands?

What do I need to buy to go under the tiles? I know my tiler said we couldn't directly tile onto the floorboards.

Any help appreciated?

I am not a professional tiler just an enthusiastic diyer and I have only tiled floors when they were concrete but I think you will need some plywood to overboard the floor, and then possibly some levelling compound and then flexible tile adhesive, tile spacers and grout. Somewhere like Wickes should be able to supply everything. You might need to buy or hire a tile cutter if it is being done by a carpenter. What are the tiles made from?

we have just tiled over a suspended wooden floor the tiler got 6mm tile boards from the DIY suppliers to level the floor then tile adhesive and spacers and grout on top 10 square meters came to just under £200

Don't forget some spacers for in between the tiles as you fit them.

Personally I would just call into Topps Tiles or similar and ask. They helped me with adhesive, grout in my preferred colour, spacers and edging strips to match the grout. If you are til8ng the floor it either needs to be screened or you need ply board screwing to the floor but your joiner can get and do that.
