We are in a terraced house and want to remove the chimney breast on the first floor. We've had two quotes - one where the steel is run through the attic, so it will literally be a clean wall (but will be a fair bit more expensive, and we will also have to make parts of the attic 'good'). The second quote suggests boxing in the steel at top of wall - he's a recommended builder who says he does this all the time.
I can't envisage the boxing in. Is this normal?
