How long should it take conveyancers to instruct searches?

Not sure if I’m being too harsh but I instructed solicitors on the 4th of august and paid for searches and they haven’t been conducted yet as the solicitors are still completing ID checks?

are they being very slow??

Have they been instructed now OP? We greed to buy around the same time, paid the £ to the solicitors the week after and they say that they won’t send off until they get ‘the pack’ from the vendors solicitor. I am not sure why, I thought searches were independent of the rest but I guess there might be extra ones they need to do depending on the vendors info on the questionnaire? I had forgotten how painfully slow and frustrating the process is.

Yes same they were awaiting the client pack. I guess it’s because there isn’t any point because the vendors could pull out

but then again they could pull out at anytime.
However my sale has fallen through so it’s a moot point 😭
