Kitchen island

Hello, my kitchen saga continues.…

I have now resigned myself to the fact that without a lot of digging/excavating my sink has to stay in the kitchen island, which is where it is at the moment.

I find it’s such a mess magnet and makes the whole island look messy, which is why I wanted it on the side but just wondered if anyone has any design or storage solutions/suggestions that I could incorporate to hide the usual sink mess??

TIA!

There are people on here who have sinks on islands. I’d hate it, sorry. But in think they use the dishwasher for everything, don’t have a drainage basket and possibly have an upstand of some kind.

Something like this might make it less conspicuous and provide a quick cover up to hide mess pin.it/2ts2OuM

Sink cover is the way to go.

Thanks all.

Our sink is pretty much used all day - mainly as a dumping ground! And yes I do try and get everyone to put stuff in the dishwasher - generally lands on deaf ears!

Now thinking a big double sink which allows me to put the drying rack inside one may be a solution 🤔

We have the sink in the island. I don't have a draining board or grooves in the granite. Instead I have a double butler sink. One is used for washing stuff in and the second one has a metal drainer and the dishcloth and scrubbing brush in. Dishwasher also in the island. It works brilliantly.

We were in same position, it would e cost a fortune to move plumbing etc so sink in the island. We have a double deep ceramic sink do I guess quite similar to a butler sink, I find using one as a dumping/soaking sink and other as washing sink seems to help keep island free of mess. We do have dishwasher in the island as well

Was just about to suggest a double sink, using one as a drainer. At least everything would be below counter top height
