New build always delay?

Is new build always delay?
I have a new build (apartment) offer developer claims they will complete in October
but I am afraid about they delay completion (because I am renting now and almost end of tenancy contract)
So I like to ask any experience on buying new build and can they complete on time?

My friend's new build had an anticipated completion date in April - with a longstop completion of July.

It's still not ready.

Any compensation for your friend?

No, they often come in on time.

We moved into ours earlier this year and had reserved / exchanged nearly 12-months previously.
As the date got nearer it moved around a bit but was finally set at Jan / Feb and we completed in the Feb.
