Hi,

I am moving into rented accomodation temporarily (2-3 months) and I cannot find a supplier that will let me sign up. The landlord has already cancelled with the current energy company, and I dont know what I am going to do. I am in tears with worry. Scottish Power would charge me a £300 bill for leaving mid term. Please help me

Sign up with the one the landlord used? Go on a variable rate. No exit fee. That’s what we’ve done. Zero hassle.

There will still be a company supplying the property I would have thought. The supply will just need to be put in your name. Has the landlord said who supplied the gas/electric previously?

And whoever you end up with don't take a fixed rate and go on the standard variable rate as that has no exit fees

A company will still be supplying the property as they aren’t allowed to disconnect the supply when people are moving house. That was from Eon two months ago. So contact the landlord and ask who he used or you may have a “to the occupier” letter from the supplier arrive, in which case ring them up and jump on their variable rate.

They were with Bulb - which is now defunct I think?

Oh you guys are the best, just signed up with Bulb - no exit fees. I could cry, thank you so much xx

Bulb is still going. DS moved into a flat a few months ago and they were the existing provider so he remained with them.

I'm sure Bulb still exists as it went into special administration or something. If there's still a supply to the property then it's likely still them that has the account there.

Glad you got it sorted OP
