After removing my tiles in ensuite shower the tradesman used Wedi Boards and painted over Mapei Acqua defense - the fumes were so bad! He said it will last a few days just bare with it.
Added out fancy wall panels and he said the smell should stop - it didn't.
Said siliconing will help - it didn't.
Mapei send a Rep to my place to look at it and I showed him how the application of acqua defense on the wedi board smelled and he agreed. Took samples to their lab - not heard a peep out of them and not sure how serious they will take this.
Now I have only used my shower once - I can't cope with the smell. It's the only shower in the (we have a bath) and would like to use it. But I have my fan on day and night, windows open during waking hours with all nets/curtains open. Also burned nice candles in there, insense and had a fan running for a few days 'all day in there'.
Nothing is working. I'm stressed out. I'm not sleeping...I'm angry that I spend so much money getting everything done and now I feel like ripping the entire thing out to get rid of that TOXIC overbearing acqua defense smell. Has anyone else had this? What did you do?
I've written to Mapei to follow up on their visit and asked if they should fund someone removing their product and reinstalling my shower without their product or with an alternative product that doesn't smell.
Am I being unreasonable?
