Decking maintenance

I have a lot of decking. Not ideal but little choice as I can't afford a major rebuild if the garden (split levels).

I redid one bit that was urgent when I moved in. The rest is now going to be tackled.

Question is about maintenance. I haven't oiled or painted the new bit. .. yet. It's well overdue but through my illness and time and other reasons I've not done it yet.

It's green under the trees and the steps and rail also are green as well as having wasp damage.

I understand oil is better than paint(?) but what do you do with the rail? Or is it best to stain all the same colour? How do you clean it first? Jet wash alone does not cut it.

Any advice appreciated.
