Asbestos garage roof

Does anyone have any experience of removing and replacing an asbestos garage roof please?

How much work is involved and any costs would be marvellous.

What type of garage? Pre cast concrete like a Compton?

About 1k for removal for us recently but ours is bigger than a standard single.

Some of our metal frames were shot and had to be replaced so 3k in all for replacement concrete sheeting, edging and new steels including labour

Depending on where you live, the local authority will dispose of it for free. They do it in London for free-we had ours removed a couple of years ago. We got builders who were replacing the roof to remove it and bag it up. Each bit had to be double bagged and labelled and then was collected.

I've got a precast concrete garage with an asbestos roof. Quotes have varied wildly as most roofers want to replace the roof with timber and roof felt.
Where the garage is a simple like for like will work best. Just had a quote for Plastisol coated roof panels, guttering etc plus licensed asbestos removal in the region of £2,600.00

we did ours TBH a lot of theses asbestos roofs are actual fibre cement the only way to tell is test as they look very similar .
treat it as asbestos as long as you don't break it you and have proper ppe your fine.
Local tip supplied plastic sheets to double wrap in .
replaced it with metal roof .

I think the rules for disposal have changed in last few years.
You used to be able to double bag and take it to a licensed tip but I don't think that applies anymore.
Local tradesmen who have done removal for us at other properties in past said they needed a different licence

I am in Scotland though so rules may be different elsewhere www.highland.gov.uk/info/1063/rubbish_-_household_waste/127/dispose_of_home_asbestos

Thanks all, it’s brick walls and asbestos cement sheets. Unfortunately the previous owner has drilled and hung stuff from the roof 😬

Surveyor said it would need to come down ASAP and to try and negotiate something off the sale price but we’re buying the house 400 miles away from current location and we don’t know any trades and everyone is ignoring us or ghosting us, guess they don’t need the work! We want the house, even with the roof, just need to be prepared to have no quotes and give the vendor a rough figure.

We recently had our whole asbestos garage taken down and away by an asbestos company in the south west. It cost 800 quid, a long single garage.

If you send dimensions and photos to a couple of specialist companies they'd give you a ballpark quote.
