What is the GRANDEST house you can buy under 500k (just for fun)

Occasionally I browse property all over the country and come upon a gem for under 500 that has 10 rooms and 12 foot ceilings and sweeping staircases in an unlikely place - mostly Victorian seaside resorts

So what's good out there at the moment ?

Yoi wouldn’t get much for £500k in my area sadly ☹️ House prices are utterly ridiculous.

The round one is glorious. Agree the insides need ripping out.

The Dingwall one is a bit sad, if that's the word. Clearly needs work yet someone has gone to the bother of lighting a fire for the pictures and staging a bottle of wine and glass by an armchair!

In my corner of Bedfordshire you won't get much, to be honest. Bog-standard newish 4-bed semi, you might get a 70's or 80's detached if you are lucky. Or a 2-bedroom bungalow.

16c mini chateau in the Loire 546k EUR = 458k GBP

Maison de Maitre in the midi Pyrenees 595k EUR = 499k GBP

Impressive under budget 8 bedroom property, (maybe not the grandest) but partly built in 1600s & 1800s with a separate cottage!

The French one is very good but under offer (as are others on this thread )

I'm ruling out ones that are sold as we don't know how much they sell for

Plus Auctions are bollocks as they are artificial pricing to draw you and they could sell for way more

This one is stunning. There’s sooo many identikit large 5 bed new builds near us for £500000 but I quite like this one for a bit of something different.House

Mainly ex council semis or bungalows but you could get a dentist’s with a one bedroom flat on the high street (I really don’t like where I live).
