As someone who is moving house on Thursday I promise there is no such thing as 'too early to pack' :D

Our house is in chaos ! Haha

Oh really haha! Well that assures me a bit, good luck with your move!

Yup, never too early. Decorative items, music, books, winter clothes, excess bedding and towels, etc., leave the stuff you need as if you're packing for a holiday.

NancyJoan · 26/07/2022 07:51

I wouldn’t start packing, but def start the chucking out of stuff you won’t want to take.

H1Drangea · 26/07/2022 07:52

We’re waiting to exchange before we pack ( and we’re oldies , downsizing from a rambling old farmhouse to a bungalow )
I get the twitch every now and then and wail to myself “ all my stuffffffff “
I haven’t even ordered the packing boxes yet ( though we are going to the tip a lot )
Some friends have offered to help , so we will be having a packing party !

Ooh tip: be on the look out on Facebook marketplace for bundles of packing boxes and materials
You'll need more than you think :)

Started packing nearly 12-months ahead.
Admittedly we have a lot of stuff and there were areas that we wanted straight well in advance (loft, garage, shed, garden etc) but it was easy to sort out items that we knew we wouldn't need (we were moving into temp accommodation for 5-months).

whenwillthemadnessend · 26/07/2022 07:59

Yep start sorting. Getting rid of crap and pack things you won't use. Kitchen is a great place to start this.

YOu will find you really do t need most of the crap in your cupboards 🤣

PuttingDownRoots · 26/07/2022 07:59

Our first purchase took six months from offer to moving day. Exchange only happened the day before due to the continued legal hiccups...

Only pack stuff you sure you won't need and the boxes are out of the way not in your main living areas or bedroom. Its depressing otherwise.

gogohmm · 26/07/2022 08:36

Start with a drastic cull, less to pack

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 26/07/2022 12:02

After we had someone pull out on exchange day before I have never packed.

I have now always sorted , thrown away stuff. So I will ready to go. But never packed anything.
