Can anyone tell me how easy it is to have a ring doorbell fitted, and is there a monthly fee, or any way you can self monitor images without paying a monthly fee? I only require basic monitoring, for peace of mind. Thankyou in advance

I think we used to pay about £40 a year for the Ring Basic package which allows for basic monitoring, so it’s not a bank breaker. We have since cancelled because, whilst Ring seems to be all the rage, we didn’t really see the point: we almost exclusively used it for making rude hand gestures to each other from outside the front door for the other to see an image of when they weren’t home. I suppose if you live in a high crime neighbourhood, have been a victim of parcel thefts, or desperately want to observe your postman approaching the front door whilst you’re on holiday, they might be pretty useful.

Easy. We have wireless.
I think I pay £3.99 a month something like that.

Simple if you don't want power connection
Just screw to the wall, connect to Wi-Fi & download the app
USB charge lasts a few weeks
Useful for delivery drivers so you can get them to leave parcels etc.

We’ve got a Eufy doorbell that came with a hub to store the recordings temporarily (it just writes over itself once full). You can download clips if you need to keep them, and there’s no monthly fee.

Very easy set up.

Thankyou for all replies, I will enquire about the Eufy option.

We have a battery one so just screwed it into the wall. We didn't need to hard-wire it. We bought a replacement battery, so it could be switched instantly.

I paid for an annual subscription. You can look at the rates on their website.

I really like it.

We foster, so it's good to track comings and goings. The police appreciated it when one of our LDs absconded.

You don't need to pay a subscription for ring if you don't want to. Think the subscription just saves the videos to view later.
