As the title, I have never seen a house like this before.
Think it might be a bit marmite, I am in the, it wouldn't be for me camp.

As an aside, what on earth is standing inside the front door?!

House here

I doubt the erect penis cums with the fixtures and fittings.

takeitandleaveit · 24/07/2022 14:11

Well, I've surprised myself there. Astounded to report that I really quite like it.

I was just thinking the same thing. I would happily live in it.

It seems to be a trend to convert barns into dwellings - it is a good price though.
This one is detached and quite a bit pricier.

Tbf it's quite clear why it's significantly more expensive despite being in the sought after rolling hills of Gloucestershire vs fairly deprived West Yorkshire with what looks like unlimited outdoor space vs a small enclosed patio garden , it's huge and has massive windows and doors that open out on the the views - oh and the outdoor lounge area, hot tub and built in sauna probably helps

loobylou10 · 24/07/2022 16:24

Laycock isn't in a fairly deprived area. It's a beautiful little West Yorkshire village.

SwedishEdith · 24/07/2022 17:03

There was one on one of those George Clarke programmes recently where they used this metal cladding because it was cheaper.

I don't hate this - once there are plants growing around the garage and in pots at the front, it'll look better. But it's just so boring inside - feel they could have made this an upside down house to take advantage of the views and have more living space.

I don't like the dining table shoved into the living room. Lacks creativity and imagination inside but the energy efficiency ratings are going to start to matter a lot more for a lot of people.

Lazyteens · 24/07/2022 18:00

Our neighbours added an extension like this onto their once beautiful old cottage. It’s gone from lovely house to fugly house (and it was built by Bodgeit and Scarper) so probably won’t age well.

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 24/07/2022 18:07

Great EPC and nice spot, don't be distracted by it saying Keighley.

Not a penny spent furnishing the place by the look of it, so empty and sad looking.

ivykaty44 · 24/07/2022 18:26

The Gloucester barn has a bit more going for it, lots of space inside and out

loobylou10 · 24/07/2022 20:36

'don't be distracted by it saying Keighley. '
Well said @Thissucksmonkeynuts !!!

heidihigh · 24/07/2022 20:39

I actually really like the inside. Not for everyone but it's very minimalistic. The outside however... is it a home or a distribution centre?

dalisdrippingclock · 24/07/2022 21:14

It's not my style but that is a LOT of house for the money.

RockinHorseShit · 24/07/2022 23:30

It’s a statue of a woman kneeling and wrapping her arms round herself

Is it, that's not what I saw BlushGrin

Mydogatemypurse · 24/07/2022 23:40

Id love it

Forestgate · 24/07/2022 23:43

Looks like somewhere you'd go to enquire about a zero hours agricultural work contract

mjf981 · 25/07/2022 03:26

Its made to look like a farm shed. I don't mind it actually..

BlueMongoose · 25/07/2022 20:01

Black metal outer skin. In hot weather it would be like an oven. Even had a black car?

tedgran · 25/07/2022 20:06

All the lights are on in the photos, and it's very bland inside and ugly outside.

imnotthatkindofmum · 25/07/2022 20:15

I was thinking it was so soulless. Then I saw the price and compared to where I live it's a fucking bargain!

GrouchyKiwi · 25/07/2022 20:23

It's a house for the zombie apocalypse. Those windows are easy to board up.

I quite like it. Needs colour, but it's good otherwise.

Suzi888 · 25/07/2022 20:30

The outside is awful. I don’t mind the inside, BUT those tiny windows would be a deal breaker. The garden is erm very minimal and no view. On the whole it’s not for me.

Cherms · 27/07/2022 21:21

Definitely not enough nor big enough windows. Ensuites with no windows for no good reason (like only internal walls)

resuwen · 27/07/2022 21:29

I quite like the inside, it's a blank canvas, and they have made good use of the space available upstairs. I agree that the garage would have been much better used as a second reception room. I would buy a house with this layout and decor (with the proviso of converting the garage) and could probably overlook the exterior as it's so eco friendly. But the windows are an absolutely deal breaker. Why the hell are they so small?!

I thought it was a weird penis! However I can now see the woman shape, so thanks for that

PatriciaHolm · 27/07/2022 22:34

This was what it used to look like. Not pretty then!

Interestingly, the first application was for it to be one house all on one floor, with a later application put in to make it 2 houses over 2 storeys.
