Hi
we are considering moving to HW/ Thames Ditton
and wanted some opinion about the area
how safe? Nice? Busy? Also schools and kids
we have 4 year old and 8 months

we are moving from Kingston and we love where we are just need more space

thinking for longer term as we are not planning on another move especially with the prices

I drive to west London near Heathrow and my husband takes train to London

We were looking in both areas for a while

both are very nice - and middle class, which means pricey.

Hinckley wood is effectively a subset of Esher

thames Ditton Is really quite special - like a quintessential village- doesn’t feel like London at all

good schools - Hinchley wood in particular has outstanding state schools and are very popular

I know a few people who grew up in Hinchley Wood and they have very fond memories of it. It's very safe. There isn't much to do there, but you are close enough to get back into Kingston if you want.

I know that area very well. Personally I find Hinchley Wood a bit soulless. I much prefer Thames Ditton but TD tends to be more expensive.

Thames Ditton has much more of a village feel with a good community ( there are no pubs in Hinchley Wood!)

isn't it in Surrey?

We are eyeing Woodfield road so really borderline

Yes, Thames Ditton isn't really in London that's why!
Hinchley Wood seems very expensive considering not much there and right by the A3 but I guess it's safe and some modern houses with good sized gardens. Friends live there and like it but they never go into London anymore, not great public transport.

By London I just meant within the M25

But yes it’s so close to Kingston but officially in Surrey
