Rhyl Vs Wrexham

Hi I'm based in Rhyl and looking at moving to Wrexham but everyone I know says how bad it is down there but my son was sent to a specialist school in Wrexham which is a lengthy commute for a 9 year old as you can imagine but before transport was arranged when I used to take him I took the time to drive round and look at different areas from Llay down to ruabon and maybe further, even took a stroll through the town a couple of times, I found some areas I really liked and some I didn't..
One thing for sure is that it felt and looked alot better than Rhyl and people have mentioned about the crime rates in Wrexham but there's nothing but young groups of kids trying to act like thugs up here too so I'm just asking if anyon has lived in both areas and what there opinion on the two areas are?
I did like being in wrexham and the feel of it and there town is much better than ours but it's one of them things that you don't know if it will be a mistake or not and I've been in this property for 14 years so it's all my kids have known so it will be a big change for all of us really. Hope I can get some opinions to help make my mind up. Thanks :)

Wrexham over Rhyl any day.
Some of the surrounding villages are lovely and there is quite a bit being spent on regeneration of the markets and places.

I live in Deeside. I'd choose Wrexham over Rhyl any day.

Wrexham isn't great (sorry!) but have a look at Buckley or Mold, then your nearest city is Chester. Or even out the other way to Llangollen would be better. And actually, I love Oswestry for a quick visit- no idea about to live though.

Thankyou everyone, don't think I would move dead centre of Wrexham and I've seen and heard about caia park too. Acton Is nice considering it's quite central. I think I would definitely go for some surrounding areas and luckily I drive so I can get to the town and my son's school too.

Just be mindful of which side of Acton you look at. Some of it is closer to the not so nice parts of town (DM me if you want further info). Oswestry is a lovely town (I"d rayher go there than Wrexham) and approx 20/30 min commute dependent on traffic (can be v heavy as you get all the lorries going up and down to S Wales).
Look at the outskirts if you can - Summerhill, Overton, Marchwiel, Minera, Tan Y Fron, Rossett, Gresford area. Llay is nice too, there's a lot of new property developments atm so be mindful of that too - heavier traffic etc. Also Wrexham is a City now so be mindful that may up costs so surrounding towns may be an idea..

Gresford, Marford, Holt and Rossett are all very pleasant villages - nothing like the usual image of Wrexham. Chirk &Llangollen are worth investigating too. LLay used to be a bit more typical Wrexham but the new developments there seem to be giving it a boost. So yes, Wrexham county over Rhyl any day, but I'd go for one of the outlying villages rather than the city centre. Being on the number bus 1 route is great too - this links Wrexham and Chester and it goes through Gresford, marford and Rossett,

I'm seeing alot of the same villages that I liked the look of so my gut feeling was right 😂 so far I'm being convinced, I just know the high schools are not the greatest and my daughter who is going to be starting year 10 isn't best pleased about the move but she hasn't had the best 3 years in this school either, no fault of the school tho I think it's a good school it was just other kids. Where as my son has hardly been in mainstream schools and was in a referral unit for years so he's finally got a school that he's making friends in and he could possibly be there right up until year 11 so he has a long time there as he's about to go into year 5 in sept .

Oswestry is lovely - I live over the border in Wales but have a shop in Os, and if I wanted to live in a town I'd move to Os :)
