Hi,

We had our offer accepted on a property on 13th June and our mortgage offer was through within 7 days from then. We've had a level 3 survey completed too. All of these things have been arranged by us therefore done very quickly. I was wondering how often you receive updates from your solicitor as to the progress on their side and how frequent is reasonable to bother them for an update without irritating them? 😅

I think we were usually in touch every week, sometimes more often if there was something that we needed to discuss with them. Offer to all searches done/report and exchange was about 6-7 weeks. Do you know where you are in the process and have they told you when to expect to hear back on all searches?

Thank you for your response @mindutopia . I'm glad to hear weekly updates aren't unreasonable to expect as I would be content with that level of communication! I'm unsure as to where we are with the searches. We paid for them as soon as we were asked to and were told an application would be made. Our solicitor then went on holiday and I've heard very little since. The last update I received was two weeks ago to say she was preparing some questions for the seller and would be in touch to explain more as she didn't think it would be straight forward yet I've not had a response or any clarity since so unsure where we stand.

I would ring weekly if I was you. We are selling a property and rang with a question the other day to find we needed to send in more information to them. They never contacted us to tell us this so if I hadn't have rung them we wouldn't know and we are due to complete very soon too!

Depends, our solicitor is terribly slow, put it this way I've sent her 2 emails in the last week and had no reply. We are trying to sort dates for exchange as right at then end of the process so kind of important she replies!

I've found the estate agent much better and we are in constant contact a few times a week (we weren't in as much contact until this stage of the process though)

Nothing to stop you contacting them though if you don't hear anything.
