Should I spend more on a bed base or on mattress?

I'm not sure if i should buy a cheaper bed base and then splash out on a mattress or if it's worth paying more for a bed base too.. First base is 280 vs 700 for the second base

Mattress. That’s mostly what gives you a good nights sleep, not the base.

Mattress all the way.

Mattress all the way for me. I have an old Sealy Posturepedic which i should really replace but am scared a new one won't be as good.
(Reasonably firm and very supportive but so comfortable)

Mattress. We spent over a thousand on our mattress fifteen years ago and stuck it on a cheap base. Still the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.

rocksonrocks · 18/07/2022 15:15

Mattress 100%. We spent an absolute fortune on ours and I'm glad every single night for it.

As an aside, you honestly can't tell the difference between the two pics you've posted. I would never buy crushed velvet furniture go for the cheaper one.

Out of the two bases I like the first one better anyhow! So you're winning by getting a nicer base and a better mattress! Sorry, not much help.

I have a pricey mattress. It's like sleeping on a cloud and I never regret buying it!

evelynn03 · 18/07/2022 15:16

@rocksonrocks Why wouldn't you buy crushed velvet? Just wondering as I've never owned it x

Aw that makes me feel better (:
Do you mind telling me which mattress you have and if it's firm?

We have a tempur mattress. Be warned they are mega expensive but I got some compensation a few years back (for a ridiculously delayed long haul flight) and I put it all towards the mattress! Yes, firm enough but not like sleeping on a plank.

Problem is I never want to get up!

I have a felt bed frame- not sure whether they work cheaper than velvet?
