Family builders done a terrible job

We started building work around November last year on a garage conversion with an accessible bathroom. It should’ve been a month at most but it took them till January and it’s still not finished.
The people hired are part of DH’s family however we had little contact with him and he apparently passed on none of the requirements to his builder. Some things had to understandably change due to factors outside our control but we update our requirements each step of the way and were very flexible but had one clear requirement, it had to be accessible. They even had detailed floor plans with accurate measurements.
I did manage to intervene on a few occasions when the builder was ignoring this and ordering whatever was most convenient for him but didn’t catch them all, we have the the largest toilet you can buy installed on the wrong wall making it impossible to easily transfer from my wheelchair when needed. It also has an extremely difficult to use flush button when I honestly couldn’t have been clearer I needed a large flush plate.
i gave the grab rails to the builder early on and said where they needed to go and to allow for room. I even ordered a second smaller one due to his mistakes. With the toilet being on the wrong wall it’s impossible to get them in and has not accounted for them at all in/next to the shower.I still have no grab rails.
I have also found a leak coming from the shower due to extremely poor siliconing which has damaged the wall and the carpet.
I am unsure of what to do next, everything has been going through DH, I do have screenshots to show he relayed the information correctly. All contracts and communication is through him. However he is reluctant to call his family member out on it and due to my disability it was extremely difficult to cope with the disruption (we even paid for a hotel for a few days whilst they finished but they didn’t even show up). I’ve tried to do my best to cope but on days I can’t walk at all it is extremely difficult to use this bathroom and feels like a complete waste of money as I’m no better off then before the work.
What is the best way to go about this? Should I just step in with the legal speak? I don’t really want to cause a family split but it’s unacceptable.
would we have rights to ask them to put the toilet the correct way round? They originally said they couldn’t due to someone cementing the pipe in the wrong way.
