Rope escape from loft extension in case of fire

Sorry, another question.

Does anyone have any experience of buying a role contraption/ladder to use to escape from second floor in case of fire? I'm doing a loft extension and literally live in the shadow of Grenfell, so I have fire on the mind a lot.

I'd love something that coyly be folded up ad out in a cupboard.

We were going to do this and then the local fire safety guy came round and told us its a terrible idea. He said almost always fires start in kitchen so get everyone to a room with a big window at the front and they'll get you from there. Probably 1st floor if in the middle of the night and everyone
is in bed. Sending anyone out of 2nd story on a rope ladder is likely to be much more risky than getting to a window and waiting for fire ladder. I guess advice may be different if you are in the middle of nowhere or if the access to your house by the fire fighters would be really hard.
