What are your thoughts? I am thinking of getting one for a downstairs shower room as it isn't a big room. Just waying up my options and came across these. Who has experience of them, would you recommend?

Thanks

There's no link to see what you're on about.

I've been to a tiny restaurant that has one. I thought it was clever

Redglitter · 12/07/2022 16:07

A cafe we go to has one. I think for a small space it's genius

greenacrylicpaint · 12/07/2022 16:08

we had this in our previous place.
(the b&q version, not sure you can get it anymore)
it was ok for the tiny cloakroom built into a former doorway (80x90cm).

but I would not want it anywhere where the sink is used for more than handwashing. the sink is tiny and drains into the toilet's cistern.

there are plenty of space saving sinks about that are more suitable.

Ideally you need a bit of space to the side so you can stand there and wash your hands. Otherwise it’s quite far to reach and your legs end up pressed up against the toilet bowl.

greenacrylicpaint · 12/07/2022 16:13

oh and all toilets with sink over cistern we have seen are cold water only.

MissusPongo · 12/07/2022 16:17

I find these a bit gross, which I know is illogical. I don't really want to stand leaning over the loo to wash my hands and if you have space to stand anywhere else then you could put a sink there instead.

Ihaveoflate · 12/07/2022 16:17

We have one in a small WC with no room for a sink. Yes, it's cold water only but it's better than nothing.

Plumber said it was fiddly to fit but no issues othe

Ihaveoflate · 12/07/2022 16:19

... (pressed send too soon!)

No issues other than that and the sink being very small, so a bit tricky to wash hands thoroughly without splashing water everywhere. Fine for occasional use.

My husband thinks they look fab, I think they will be unhygienic. This may be because of years of experience with boys.

greenacrylicpaint · 12/07/2022 16:32

acutally it was great with boys - you had to close the lid to wash your hands Wink

MrsJamin · 12/07/2022 16:35

We had this in a very small downstairs loo+utility room. It worked well in the space, but yes all you can do is wash hands with cold water, and you need space at the side otherwise it'd be really uncomfortable. Pretty eco reusing water too.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 12/07/2022 16:46

Some caravans have them. Always thought they were a good idea in such small spaces. Easy to clean. My only concern would be are they easy to repair the toilet flush? And can they be easily replaced if irredeemably broken.? Can the toilet be used if the sink/taps break?

stormelf · 12/07/2022 22:00

We put one in our downstairs bathroom to maximize space last year, not had any problems with it as well. The sink is actually larger than what we used to have in the room

stormelf · 12/07/2022 22:01

Ours is hot and cold water from the tap

So much laughter from me! And since WHEN have boys (men or women) been inclined to wash their hands. Most I know just do their business and come out.- Me, I have to say, I am a washing hand freak.

orbitalcrisis · 12/07/2022 22:06

I think it's a good idea and it would remind me of my time in prison...

jellybe · 12/07/2022 22:10

We had one I. Our old house for a tiny down stairs loo. It was great

Africa2go · 12/07/2022 22:51

Is there enough space for the built in toilet / sink side-by-side combo (think they start at 80 or 90 cm)? Think that's slightly better than sink on top of the cistern.
