Replacing a saniflow with a connection to drains

Has anybody replaced a saniflow toilet with one which connects to the drains directly?

We have an en-suite shower room with a saniflow - it was here before we moved in. Over the years we have probably paid thousands in repair costs as the pump wears out and it has quite a slow flow which makes it hard to clean. I also worry about a catastrophic failure with backflow etc.

I'd like to make a direct connection to our drains but it would probably need to go along the side of the house and connect in the front or back garden.
I don't even know who would be the appropriate trade to contact.

Anybody any ideas/suggestions?

We did. It cost the price of one repair.

Thanks for replying - do you mind saying who did you get to do the work?

We did the opposite - installed a macerator in order to reconfigure the bathroom. Your main consideration will be getting a connection to the soil pipe (or installing another one), then you have to have the correct "fall " or downward angle to the soil pipe. I would imagine it could be quite costly but your best course of action is to get a plumber (or a few plumbers) in to look at the existing set up and pipes and give you a quote. Good luck!

Hi, soz - can I butt in to ask what you clean your macerator with? I’ve literally just bought a house with one and have heard dire things about putting bleach down them… Can one use ordinary bog cleaner e.g. tropical flavour Toilet Duck? Thank you!

Hi, I use Harpic/Toilet Duck in ours. We also get something from Amazon, a macerator treatment thing that you use a couple of times a year...I'll see if I can find it and post a link or the name of it for you later on 👍🏼

You're not supposed to use beach as it attacks the rubber seals. I buy special cleaner in 5l containers from Amazon.

Which seems to do the job.

Brilliant, thanks both

Beat me to it @Boadicea2 🤣That's the stuff 👍🏼

We took the soil pipe through the house to connect to the one from the existing bathroom. It was done by a plumber. And is the best money we have spent on the house!

That sounds like a good idea but I'm not sure it would work for us. The main soil pipe runs internally and I can't see a way of connecting to it.
Due to the drainage and some plumbing stuff carried out by previous owners we have several manhole covers in our garden and I feel like it should be possible to connect to one of those. I think we might have to get permission from Thames Water though.
