Oak stairs and floor - what colour walls

What colour would you paint a hall/staircase with solid oak stairs and floor? The walls are currently burnt orange/ teracotta (not our choice) and it's really dark. I'm tempted to play it safe with white but that seems dull and I'd like to bring out the richer tones of the wood.

I can't find anything I like the look of on pintrest etc.

Thanks

I’d go for a soft grey green, something like TraceryII from Little Greene. But our hallway with oak parquet is Shadow White by F&B which also looks lovely if you wanted something lighter

F&B Old White. It looks green or warm grey depending on the light. I love it. We have it through the hall & landing - oak floor, white painted stairs with an autumnal brown/red tartan runner, oak & wrought iron banister.

Clontarf from B&Q! Great value, really good coverage and available in a durable finish so brilliant for high traffic areas. We've used it in our hallway, stairs and landing alongside some retro patterned paper with a toning shade...it's holding up well so far and looks great with our oak floor 👍🏼

Cream or peach? A dusky grey-pink might work too.
