My front door was open, chatting to the neighbour about 20 mins. Came in and there were probably about 100 of these across the hallway, living room and kitchen (all pretty much open plan). None on the floors, they seem to prefer walls and especially ceiling. A few had come in the bathroom window which was open upstairs. There are loads of them on our door frame and window sills outside (which is how I spotted them) and so even if the door or window isn’t open they’re able to crawl in.
Someone has suggested they are thrips… but we literally have no indoor or outdoor plants. A few weeds coming through the driveway area but that’s it…. they do have wings, they are very tiny and you have to concentrate a little to see them move.
Thoughts? What are they? Where are they coming from? Could it be the weeds or the usual rubbish bins (nothing unusual gone in there) ?
We can hoover them and squash them but gradually they return. It’s been 24 hours since we first noticed them. Do I need pest control and if not how do I get rid? I don’t want to use anything toxic as we have a toddler in the house.
