Anyone got a mortgage with the Metro Bank?

We applied 3 months ago and despite our broker chasing daily, Metro are just not giving us an answer. Anyone else been in the same boat? We're limited in terms of which lender we can go with since I'm a contractor for but my husband is in a permanent full time role which would more than cover mortgage payments. I've now got a permanent FT role myself so we'll be considering other lenders too but can't help but feel annoyed at how much of our time Metro have wasted :/

We didn't apply to Metro but I know mortgages are taking forever to get approved at the moment. Do you know what stage they're at - have they asked for a survey and are waiting for it? What does your broker say they're waiting for?

If there's no response at all, your broker could escalate the case with Metro. Delays are one thing but just ignoring your broker's requests for an update are something else entirely.

We've submitted everything but then get asked to resubmit the same paperwork at various intervals. I genuinely do not know what is going on. Broker has now put on application with another bank but interest rates have since increased and we're getting shit deals. Honestly, I'm losing sleep over this. I'm petrified we'll lose out on our purchase.

Hi we applied in April to metro bank. They do all the underwriting before the valuation.

@mortaggar your broker needs to speak to the BDM to have your case escalated.

Yes we paid our valuation fee when we got an AIP with them and were told they'd only instruct a valuation once they'd agreed the application but we're still waiting. How long did it take for them to agree your mortgage? (Needing hope and reassurance!)

Yes- broker escalated this morning. I wonder if they're any good or will punish us for taking it to the BDM

We had our valuation on Monday. We were told we should hear back by tomorrow. They will only do the valuation once you have passed the application stage with the underwriters. So you will have an offer subject to valuation. They are extremely quick at booking the valuation.

Hi, can you tell me what type of valuation did they do, was it a drive by, quick internal or full internal?

I've got a disabled son at home who will stress with a stranger walking around and am currently applying to Metro.

Not via metro but I've recently had an in person valuation done by countrywide and they were here about 15/20mins and some of that was outside.

You should also try calling them yourself if you have the ref number. I did this, and got it going without the broker
