would it be crazy to move back into a flat?

during lockdown we moved and bought a house in a nice enough area of SELondon but never really settled. Now contemplating moving somewhere naice but in a flat? The price of a house would be the same as a two bed flat but as we only have one DC still at home and we might need to move for secondaries anyway. Would it be totally crazy to just sell up and move? Anyone else has done the move? I only hear of people going from zone2 to the outer suburbs with kids, but has anyone else done the move back?

Not London but we are downsizing to a flat in a far nicer area with the town we live in.

New place is just behind a really established high street and there is a lovely feel.

Plus it will be a million times cheaper to heat.

It's a win win!

sadly we still have about 25 years to go but just not sure that its a good idea

Would you be going back to an area and community you love and has the secondaries you want? If so and it’s the lifestyle you love - go for it

There's nothing wrong with living in a flat. We live in a flat in the city centre. We could buy a house in the suburbs but we don't want to live in the suburbs.

Not crazy at all. Houses are a lot more hassle in upkeep and you know what they say, location location.

I haven't moved from house to flat but I have sold quickly to get out of a town when we didn't settle. It was one of the best things we've done.

how long do you usually give it to settle. I really never realised how much more upkeep this house is going to be both in terms of costs but also time

I'm bringing up 2 children in a flat in an area I love. Could get a house further out but that's not what we want.
Its not crazy, and there's a good chance the flat will keep up value wise if the area is more desirable. Perhaps not in London, I don't know, but it will where I live.

I’d never live in a flat again, especially a leasehold flat. Also too much noise from neighbours. I like peace and quiet though.
