Smart Thermostat cost

If you had a smart thermostat installed, how much did it cost including installation?? Can you just install it yourself or did you need a professional to do it?

We had a professional do it a couple years ago, £300

Ours got fitted at the same time as a new boiler - it was around £300. I think they might be cheaper now though, as someone I know is getting one for less. They are great!

We bought a tado system and fitted it ourselves. The app takes you through the installation in easy steps.

Mine was fitted with a new boiler but I wasn't charged for installation.

It's worth noting that it's been in the news that energy companies are going to start charging more at peak times. So I'm not sure if it's in your interests to provide them with granular data of usage via a smart meter.

A smart thermostat is nothing to do with a smart electric/gas meter 😂🙄

We’ve installed tado ourselves. We’ve come out of our fixed price deal and last month we spent less on electricity compared to the same month last year. Our useage is down by around 1/2 so well worth it.

Although our house was too hot upstairs and too cold downstairs so controlling each radiator made sense when the thermostat is downstairs.

£300 sounds right. More if you have another zone such as an extended area with under floor heating.

The benefit depends on lifestyle. If like us, we have a very regular timetable, then it is really marginal. In my view the benefit comes from being able to control each radiator. Ie on a weekend you prob won't need radiators on upstairs. You might want them coming on latter. However, they do add a lot to the price tag
