Littleton, Winchester

So I am on a constant quest to find a property in Hampshire due to job relocation. Considered Southampton but DH prefers Winchester and now will not compromise. We want to buy somewhere before interest rates rise. We are looking at the outskirts of Winch which are bit cheaper. Does anyone know Littleton and Harestock (probably mire towards the Littleton side).

Do you have kids? Harestock better for families and closer to school (assuming they'll go to Henry Beaufort). Littleton is quite sleepy/retired but from memory it does at least have a bus service into town. I don't live in Winchester any more but I have family there so visit regularly. Would you consider Kings Worthy/Springvale? Much better bus service. Henry Beaufort presumably under pressure from new Marsh Barton development though.

Yeah I think HB will come under pressure from Kings Barton development. We prefer Littleton/Harestock as we can still just about walk to central Winchester whereas you definitely cannot do that with KIngs Worthy.

Littleton is a fair walk into town, and there aren't any pavements until you get to Harestock. You could definitely walk from Harestock though.

It's all so busy these days. I'm always shocked at the traffic when I visit. I'd seriously think about an electric bike if I moved back there.

There’s little difference in walking time between Kings Worthy to the centre and Littleton… Maybe 10 minutes. If anything, Kings Worthy would provide a better route because it’s fully paved and you’d also have the option of either walking by the river all the way into town or via Barton Meadows.

I'd definitely go for Kings Worthy if I were thinking about moving back, not least because the buses run later! The Running Horse at Littleton is very good though.
