Toilet not flushing and can’t get lid off cistern!

Hi all, wondering if someone can help please? We have a button flush toilet, and when you press the button nothing is happening, there seems to be no or low water in the cistern.

However I can’t get into the cistern to check! I’ve watched loads of YouTube videos on how to remove it but ours seems to be different.

You can remove the tops of the buttons (dual flush) but there is no screw to unscrew at all!

Does anyone have any tips?

Exciting Saturday night!!

No idea except contact the manufacturer on monday.. meanwhile a bucket of water tipped down it will flush the nasties away

Thankfully it’s not been used since it stopped flushing!

Can you post a picture of the button flush? I've had ones where you have to sort of unscrew the surround, might be one of those?

SquirrelSoShiny · 25/06/2022 21:25

Ours is like this and it unscrews. The metal ring around the button is the bit to twist.

One of ours is like that and you just need to get a flat screwdriver under the ring to get a little gap all around it and it just slides out. Maybe yours is like this?

AtomicBlondeRose · 25/06/2022 21:31

Doesn’t the lid of the cistern just lift off? They’re usually not sealed.

Pour a bucket of water into the bowl. That will also flush the contents down.

You can unclench now

DotBall · 25/06/2022 21:32

The fault with ours was the button and it cost £8 for a replacement from Screwfix and about 5mins to sort. Hope yours is the same x

You should be able to turn the silver ring and Button. It might be a bit stiff but twist it round to the left and it will come off

tootiredtobother · 25/06/2022 21:41

twist\turn the whole fitting ie the outer ring on the flush button not just the central bits of the flush that you press down when flushing the loo. when the whole thing unscrews then it lifts off. the ceramic lid will then lift off

JaneGnR88 · 25/06/2022 23:30

Thanks all, I managed to lever it off and get it open! It was just so stiff!

The cistern was empty so filled up for now and will take a proper look tomorrow!

Thats enough riveting conversation from
me for tonight! 😂
