the Wood infront of our washing machine has suddenly come up with these stains. No idea what’s caused it! Any ideas what it could be/what I can do to rectify it? It’s only appeared in the last week and seems to look worse everytime I look at it!

Looks like water has leaked from somewhere perhaps?

it could have come from the washing machine I guess! I haven’t noticed anything substantial though 😭 is there any way of rectifying it?

Water probably leaking underneath or behind the machine. Pull it out and identify where it is coming from so you know if you need a plumber or an appliance repairwoman.

The floor has the appearance to me of a veneer, probably ply.

After the leak has been repaired and dried out, you can rub off the varnish or seal, and use oxalic acid to bleach the wood. If necessary you can use a spirit-based wood dye to match the colour before refinishing. Start a little paler than you think you need. The wood may have been damaged and need replacing, but no time to worry about that until the leak is repaired.

I have exactly the same right now in my kitchen. In my case it's the black rubber foot of the fridge that's got damp & marked the floor. I only had about 50% success with oxalic acid. Perhaps because my wood was previously oiled? Has your machine shifted? Can you realign it's position again & hide the spot if this is the case?
