Seller - No Contact! Why do you think?

We offered on a house end of Jan.
Being sold by a divorcing couple.
Our offer accepted.

Seller says he's going into rented accomodation (I know, that old chestnut!). Beginning of April, our buyer pulls out.
They dont believe our seller is going anywhere.
Our buyer got twitchy as they've been forced into rented to save their own sale

A week later we have another buyer.

We're at the enquiries stage with the house we want to buy now.
Our solicitor says we have to wait for our new buyer to catch up to same stage.
fast forward to 23 May, sale and purchase now at the same point.

Then....

Our solicitor can't get hold of sellers solicitor to chase enquiries. Repeated emails and calls. Nothing.

The estate agent can't get hold of seller or sellers solicitor.

This has been the state of affairs for the last few weeks.

Yesterday.....

Our solicitor talks to sellers solicitor and they can't hold of their client either.
Phone disconnected.
Also can't get in contact with the estranged wife.
Both MIA!!!

Complete silence.
Its like us, the estate agents and his own solicitors have been ghosted.
Its so weird.

Just to add, the estate agent has even posted a couple of notes through the door asking the seller to make contact.
Nothing.

If they want more money, why dont the say?
If they don't want to sell anymore, why not say?

Our estate agent says we should start looking at other properties which we have but nothing at all suitable.

Has anyone encountered a situation such as this before?
What was the outcome?

Pull out, look for another property and don't lose another buyer over this couple. You'll get a good deal now because there's a mix of reduced, chain free & probate properties on the market now.

Move on, look elsewhere.

Sorry Op, but if there's been no contact for them for over a month then i'd say the only outcome is one where you don't get the property.

You can wait another few months or pull out now, but it's clear they don't want to sell, and have no intention of moving into rented. It's unfortunate, but you've already lost one set of buyers and could end up losing the new buyers unless you move on and find something else.

Thanks guys. I know you're all right. Our estate agent is actually going to speak to our buyer today and explain our situation. Hopefully he'll hang on and give us a chance to find elsewhere.

I just dont understand why someone would just go silent and ignore everyone, rather than saying they don't want to sell anymore. It is just weird to me!
