I am lucky enough to live in a detached Victorian house in the middle of no where. Ultimately the plan is to do an extension on the house but as that isn’t happening any time soon, I am looking for ways in which I can improve the house a bit at a time.

The bathroom thankfully has already been moved upstairs however, it is a very small room. It is 6ft by 8ft 6 so the aim of everything is to maximise the space. The window in this room is tiny but it is set far back into the wall (old house=thick walls!) so has a very deep window ledge. Would it be worth making this window bigger to maximise the view and get more light into the room or would the disruption and cost of taking out a whacking great lump of very thick stone make it not worth my while?

I doubled our bathroom window and haven't regretted it, however it wasn't such a deep wall. We did cut through a similarly deep outer wall for a doorway and the dust was...EPIC. Looks good now though.

If you go ahead I'd order a plastic door cover with a zipped door, where you tape it over the doorframe. Empty the bathroom, fit the plastic door to the outside of the bathroom door frame and get cutting.
