Help! Cleaner has cleaned off the antique brass finish on our taps!

I walked into the kitchen just now to see our cleaner (who we’ve had for over a year and a half) using the Pink stuff on our antique brass kitchen tap!! I have no idea why he suddenly decided it needed to be polished considering all our knobs, handles, literally everything in the house has an antique finish. He was very apologetic when I explained it to him, but we’re now faced with a tap that doesn’t match anything!

Does anyone know how I can remedy this, short of replacing the tap or getting an expert to re-antique it? Is there a decent product you can apply yourself? I’ll give anything a go! Thanks 🙏🏻

You can buy antiquing fluid online. You could try the ‘natural’ methods like salt and vinegar but I imagine the professional stuff gives a better finish.

Spray paint it with Rustoleum metallic antique brass?

I wouldn't worry about rectifying it. That should be the responsibility of the cleaner to either repair or replace. They will have insurance. You should go through them

Thank you all, some helpful ideas. Yes you’re right @Imthedamnfoolwhoshothim I should go down that route, I’m just a bit of a wimp when it comes to complaining 😂 At least the cleaner himself won’t be out of pocket.
