Am I just really unlucky? Or do other sellers have their sale fall through multiple times?!

I've just had the gutting phone call again to say buyers have pulled out. Both times have been due to personal circumstances changing (I know both the personal circumstances but didn't feel it necessary to detail someone else's woes) but it is just an absolute kick in the teeth. Both times have been relatively early in the process. First one was 3 weeks in, before I'd found onward purchase. This time it is 7 weeks in, but they only sold theirs 10 days ago and I found my onward ourchase 2 weeks ago (and they haven't found theirs yet). So again, no expenses as such. I'd instructed sols. after the first sale, and just applied for mortgage last week. But no actual monies spent.
I absolutely hate doing viewings. I'm very houseproud so the house has to be just so. I can't bear it to not be. It takes me hours to get "viewing ready". I have to fit it round 2 very busy jobs, 3 kids, a stepkid and just the usual stresses and strains of busy working family life. I'm so pissed off to be back on that treadmill.
Am I just really unlucky? Or does this happen over and over to others? Once I could understand it as bad luck, but twice? Fuck me, I must have done something bad?!

Just me then? Maybe I should feel that the third time will be the charm?!

It's not just you.
We aren't on the market yet; probably won't be till next year, but I check Rightmove most days & often see houses bouncing back on after a month or so. One has now reappeared 3 times - so guessing the chains have collapsed.
You have my sympathies - I'm not looking forward to all that when we do put it on the market.

You are most definitely not the only one, many of us who have sold a house and bought another have suffered similar woes, believe me.

Buyers pull out for a myriad of reasons, I could write a book about our experiences - so could many posters on here. Some buyers pull out or threaten to do so at the very last minute. The system (in England and Wales) allows them to do so with very little or no come back.

It's a very frustrating process which can take over your life for months at a time. I hate it and I've done it six times so I'm obviously a glutton for punishment. But chin up OP, you'll very likely be in a different place this time next year.

Mine fell through twice. Once to an utter time waster and once to someone whos
employment situation changed. Never again
