Wall panelling - diy

Has anyone done their own wall panelling? I've been looking at blogs, websites and YouTube videos and it seems reasonable enough. I would get the strips of MDF cut to measure, rather than cutting them myself I think...

Yes we did it in our spare room, bought a couple of packs of the ready cut stuff from Homebase.

How did you find it? Easy to install? Decent quality?

Another one that bought the packs from homebase - very straightforward and looks great

It’s not panelling if it’s just strips is it? Surely to count as panelling it has to be, well, panels…
If it’s just strips can’t you see that it’s still the texture of wall rather than wood on the rest of it?

I saw a video on TikTok earlier where the girl had bought the pre cut strips and did it herself. It looked so good it’s inspired me to have a go myself. Might try it in the spare room to start with just in case!

Yes, I suppose so, and I would want proper panels not the wall showing through underneath.

As someone who made the mistake of shaker style kitchen cabinets.... don't do it

Little ledges = dust traps. Life is way too short to have to dust lots of little ledges on your walls! 🤣

Oh god that is a point...
