Bathroom Reno cost. How much should I expect to pay?

Has anyone had their bathroom done recently?was wondering how much to expect to pay. The cheapest quote I had was 4k that’s for tiling, ripping out everything , plumbing , electrician ect. Everything needs replacing including spotlights , extractor fan ect. Also we are moving the bath, shower and towel rail to a different position. I have started a wish list and it’s looking like it will cost another 4k for materials including tiles 😬

Does 8k seem reasonable for a smallish to medium size bathroom ? I’m very near London if that makes any difference.

I think that sounds a little on the cheaper side of things. I would expect to pay that where I live and I'm much further north than London. I suppose if you were careful in choosing tiles, suite etc

Oh really, that makes me feel better that you think 8k is cheap. Everyone I spoke to seems to think 8k is too much but it depends on who you speak to I guess. I have no clue how much it should cost.

Our friends in the Midlands are getting a new (small) bathroom and it’s costing 10k. Their other quote was for 16k

We paid 12 k abut 5 years ago (Scotland) but that involved stripping off all the plasterboard to reinsulate the walls. Small bathroom, separate bath and shower.

We paid around £10K for a mid-range refit at the end of last year.

It cost me 10k for a complete renovation of a family bathroom with separate shower and bath. Fully tiled up to the ceiling, new spot lights, extractor fan, toilet cistern built into the wall and a side wall broken down to make the bathroom bigger. That was 7 years ago. Your quote sounds reasonable. I'm also north of London.

I've just paid £6k for my bathroom. All new suite, fully tiled walls and floor, layout unchanged.

DM is just having this done. North here.

1930s semi with separate loo. Nothing done since 80s.

everything is being ripped out including tiles and flooring. Ceiling being reboarded and plastered. All walls covered floor to ceiling with waterproof wall panels. Quality suite and shower screen with Hans Grohe shower valve and taps. New fan. Suite is Roca with Basin is in a lovely unit with pull out drawers. Flooring being replaced with waterproof laminate. Electric sensor bathroom mirror with hidden shaver point. Chrome radiator and grab rail.

above cost 5200 at local plumbers merchants.

plumber will take two weeks for both rooms, 3750 including all materials such as plaster board, skirtings, silicone, adhesive etc.

he isn’t the cheapest but has done loads for us over the years and his work is excellent, he’s also a really nice bloke and patient and understanding of the stresses of the elderlies.

total just shy of 9k.

We paid just over £10k and that was everything, the whole room was gutted floor to ceiling.

It’s more than you plan to have done but I just paid £16k for a complete remodelling to restore bath to original position. As the room had floor to ceiling tiles, it was cheaper to remove and replace the walls and floor. Two showers (one a back up electric), Roca suite, underfloor heating, mist free, lit mirror, upvc ceiling, dual oil/electric heated towel rail, extractor fan etc. It was a lot of work, similar to building a new bathroom entirely, so labour cost was high and the job took forever.😏 I do love it however, and the mix of textured tiles around bath with marbled tiles elsewhere, all in the same colour, works well.

I wouldn’t start work without £10k but it is possible to do a bathroom for less.

I paid about £7.8 k a couple of months ago.

Smallish size room. Stuff pretty much going back in same place just moving taps and waste feed for bath.
Removing all tiles (was fully tiled) and half tiling and plastering.
Building false wall for toilet
Vinyl flooring
Decorating

£5.3 was labour. £2.1 ish bathroom fittings. Then £400 I think k for paint flooring and tiles

£17500 for a complete refurb. High end stuff completely gutted. Cheshire based. Took about 4 weeks to do and it's a fairly large ensuite.

We paid around £10K for removal, straight swap but new shower attachment, quite pricy tiles (only to half the bathroom), Amtico flooring, and new lighting.

Paid 12k for medium bathroom. Moved the sink and put a walk in shower where the bath was. Had a high end Aqualisa shower fitted with shower head coming in from the ceiling.

Omg , I can’t believe it cost 10k and more for new bathroom. I guess everything has gone up recently . The people who are telling me I could get it a lot cheaper I guess haven’t had a new bathroom done recently.

MigsandTiggs Lovely bathroom. Glad to see everyone is still using grey. One of the bathroom fitters told me he is seeing less and less grey and thinks it’ll be out of fashion soon but I went with grey and white anyway !

Mine just cost me £7k but I didn't move anything and sourced all the fittings/tiles myself. Fitter was £4k of that

Mine isn't grey! Fitter said it made a change.....

Amid, how is your aqualisa shower ? We are thinking of getting one. A concealed thermostatic one not the fancy digital ones

We’ve done all 3 of ours in 3 years since moving in (south east). Cheapest was 8k (replacing fittings, and retiling) and most expensive was 22k, but that involved design, moving all the plumbing round, tanking, all new walls and ceiling and electrics, and fitted with expensive tiles and fittings. Won’t be doing any more now, but does show that prices vary wildly depending on the scale of the work and the quality of the stuff.
